Historic Hemlock Cube Tables

URBAN TREE SALVAGE® solid wood cubes can be used for coffee tables and, side tables, as well as occasional seating.  They come with lower feet, which elevate the piece slightly for proper air circulation, while creating a nice shadow line.

Our old growth hemlock timber cubes are reclaimed from the historic Toronto Queen’s Wharf, circa 1830's, and the Toronto Ferry Terminal wharf, circa 1912.  Both wharf's were discovered in downtown Toronto while excavating for condo developments down at Bathurst Street/ Lakeshore Drive and Bay Street/ Harbour Street in 2006-2007. We estimate that the trees started growing back as early as the 1500-1700's!  These are truly a piece of Toronto’s history!

As the material is very old, it is quite dense, with very tight annual growth rings.  Due to being buried underground for so many years, the timbers have absorbed the minerals from the earth, creating a unique greyish/ brown color palette.

Our reclaimed timber cubes are generally 10” x 10” x 16-24” high.
