WALNUT - 2.25" x 54-56" X 142"
Black Walnut is the darkest domestically grown hardwood. The heartwood has a medium to dark chocolate brown tone with a grey, purple, or reddish cast. The sapwood is pale yellow-gray to nearly white.
Black walnut is a semi-ring porous, medium density wood that is typically straight grained. It is dimensionally stable, has good shock resistance and strength with moderate bending and crushing strengths. As only .02% of the tree canopy in Toronto is comprised of Black Walnut we do not see it to salvage often.
