basswoodBasswood has a lighter golden tone. Its sapwood is usually large and creamy, merging into the heartwood which is a pale orange/reddish brown, sometimes with darker streaks. It has a fine, uniform texture and indistinct straight grain.
This is lower density hardwood and is ring diffused.
